Welcome to The
Worktape

Ahhh so much new stuff around here. It's nice isn't
it? Kind of like moving into a new neighborhood where
there's a lot going on. So right, down to this
business of Songwriting . . . You may or may not know
that I've been in Bath, UK since October studying to
be the first person in America to ever earn a Masters
degree in the craft of Songwriting. I know, this
immediately raises red flags in most people's heads.
It's either the "how do you teach someone how to
write a song?" or the "what do you ever think an MA
in songwriting is gonna do for you?" Well trust me,
I've got some very definite opinions on both matters,
and if you can believe, a whole lot more. That's why
I've decided to start this little Op Ed here. To
start with I'm gonna spend a little time talking
about what the hell I've been doing here for last 8
months. Then I'm gonna get down to brass tacks.
Everyone who writes tunes does it differently and I
plan to spend some time talking about the things I've
learned here studying in MA Songwriting and try to
find out how other people do it too. I would really
love for this to be something that people engage in
so please throw in your two cents on the message
board (click the two pennies on the control panel). I
would love to answer questions if you have any. I'll
try to post up something new, and completely separate
from the vidcast every week. This should be a fun
experiment.
Peace in the Midlands,
Tim
